The Chair of the Foundation Les Ami.e.s de l’Hôpital Stella-Maris-de-Kent, Adélard Cormier, is pleased to announce the creation of a fundraising committee dedicated to improving the cardiology services delivered at the Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital.

“The objective for our new campaign, entitled “Your Heart Clinic Needs You”, has been set at $200,000. With these funds, we wish to purchase new equipment for the brand-new cardiology clinic at the Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital. We’re asking the public to support us in this community-building project that will have a very positive impact on the care available in our region!”

The fundraising committee will be chaired by Joey Caissie, who explained that the campaign is progressing well but that the public’s support will be key to achieving the objectives set.

“The campaign is moving forward very well and we’re certain that we’ll be able to reach our objective within a few months. The people of Kent County have already shown us how generous they are, and the reception we have received to date has been very positive. Together, we will take the cardiology services available here in Kent County to the next level.”

This new outpatient service, which will be fully operational within a few months, is the result of a partnership between Vitalité Health Network and the Foundation Les Ami.e.s de l’Hôpital Stella-Maris-de-Kent. Overall, the project will involve an investment of over $500,000. Extensive construction work will be undertaken and specialized equipment will be purchased to deliver these new services. Thanks to this project, one of the five cardiologists from the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre will be on site every day. The driving force behind the project, cardiologist Dr. Jean-François Baril, is thrilled that these new services are being added.

“Thanks to this partnership and to people’s generosity, we’ll be able to provide local patients with high quality cardiology examinations. New equipment featuring cutting-edge technology will be available and patients won’t have to venture very far from home to access these new services. I’m very grateful for the support we’re receiving for this very positive project for the region!”
