Moncton, February 25, 2019 –
Preparations are well under way for the 9th edition of the Tour of Hope that will be held from July 25 to 28, 2019. With five months to go before the event, 127 cyclists are already registered.

While registration levels are encouraging to date, the early registration date has been extended to March 15 in order to encourage those who may be interested in participating. For those who register by that date the fundraising requirement will be $1,000, rather than the $1,500 requirement for registrants after that date. Also, the total number of participants will be limited to 150 this year.

The Tour of Hope is a four-day cycling event to raise funds for the Tree of Hope campaign, while creating awareness for the importance of making healthy lifestyle choices.

This event is also important for Assumption Life; in 2018, the company announced that it would be the presenting sponsor of the Tour of Hope for the next three years.

(Moncton, NB – December 20, 2018) Children needing to undergo surgery at the Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre will now have the opportunity to get to the surgical suite by somewhat unconventional means, thanks to a gift from Moncton Chrysler.

A few days before Christmas Eve, under the watchful eye of Santa Clause himself, the local automobile dealership delivered a Kidsquad Mudslinger, a motorized ride-on car for children of the paediatrics department of the Dumont UHC. This battery operated, remote-controlled vehicle can be driven by the child or controlled by a parent. “It’s a fun way to transport children to the operating room, a short trip that is often a cause of anxiety for this vulnerable clientele”, said Johanne Roy, vice-president of Clinical Services for Vitalité Health Network. When their physical condition allows, they will be able to take themselves to the operating room, rather than using a stretcher.”

MONCTON, February 11, 2019 – The Delta Beauséjour’s Grand Salon was literally sparkling on Saturday, February 9 as the venue for the CHU Dumont Foundation’s 24th Valentine’s Day Gala presented by the National Bank.  The atmosphere was especially festive as attendees learned that their participation had helped organizers raise the impressive sum of $125,000.

For the organizing committee, the amount was even more than they had hoped for. “While recognizing that our expectations were high, we knew all the elements were in place for a successful evening. However, it’s always a pleasure to see your hard work translated into real dollars. Our goal was to reach a total of $120,000 and we are extremely pleased that this was surpassed”, said Marc Lanteigne, chairman of the organizing committee. “I am grateful for all the hard work and commitment displayed by my committee members. I also thank the sponsors who made this all possible by believing in our cause.”

The Valentine’s Day Gala is one of the CHU Dumont Foundation’s signature events.  Each year, parts of the funds raised are invested in the improvement of care and health services offered at the Dr.-George-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre. More than 470 people took part in the 2019 edition.

Moncton, September 16, 2018 –
The 2018 edition of The Drive raised $115,000 to improve patient care at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre. More than one hundred participants took part in the fourth edition of the activity, which was held on September 15th.

On a beautiful sunny day, 55 cars covered over 450 kilometers travelling from Moncton to Miramichi, with several stops along the way.

Again this year, funds raised by The Drive will go towards the purchase of specialized equipment for the urology department.

“As a physician, I want to have access to the best tools available so that my patients receive the best care”, explains Dr. Marc Savoie, Urologist at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre and member of The Drive’s organizing committee. “We already have a highly qualified medical team at the Hospital Centre and soon, we will have a new, modern and adapted workspace. With some work and some effort, we can ensure we also have the best equipment and tools.”

The Drive 2018 is sponsored by the Lounsbury Group, which owns and operates BMW Moncton, Audi Moncton, and Lounsbury Chevrolet Moncton.

“We are proud to be a title sponsor of this fundraising activity that benefits the health and well-being of our community”, indicates Mr. Kendall Underhill, General Manager of Lounsbury Chevrolet Moncton. “Participation in activities like The Drive allows for important development projects and the acquisition of equipment for our hospital to go forward which, in the end, benefits us all.”

Mr. Paul Maillet, participant and organizing committee member, certainly plans on taking part in the activity again next year.

“The Drive always promises a fun day, full of surprises and always delivers; but it is more than that. We have to remind ourselves that we are doing this for an excellent cause. Our health is the

most precious thing we have. At one point or another in our lives, we will all need medical treatments and it is in those moments that we realize the importance of having access to the best health care services here, at home. This is what The Drive represents and that is why I support it.”

Lise Caissie, chair of the board of directors of the CHU Dumont Foundation, is pleased with the success of this fourth edition of the activity.

“Thank you to everyone who participated in the event, as well as to our many generous sponsors. We just experienced a memorable day, and on top of that, the funds raised will go to a great cause and will make a significant difference in the quality of care offered to our patients.”

The Drive is a fundraising activity for the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre that appeals to luxury car enthusiasts who have the well-being of their community at heart. It is an opportunity for a group of people with a common interest to drive around together for a full day making a few stops along the way at carefully selected locations. The route is kept secret. At each stop, participants are given a map with directions only to get to the next stop. The day wraps up with a cocktail followed by dinner.
