Moncton, March 20, 2017— Following the resounding success of the first edition in June 2016, organizers of the Electrifying Night Run are pleased to announce the event will be back again this year. On Friday, June 16, 2017, walkers and runners are invited to participate in the second edition. The run will start at 9 p.m. in front of the Dr. Léon-Richard Oncology Centre in Moncton. Funds raised will be used to support breast cancer patients.

“The feedback we received last year was so positive that we just had to do a second edition,” says Dr. Jocelyne Hébert, a surgeon at the Breast Health Centre. “Participants had a lot of fun, and the event was a great family activity. I hope we can count on the community’s support again this year,” she added.

Participants in the Electrifying Night Run have the option of walking or running (or a combination of the two) the five-kilometre route, which starts at the Dr. Léon-Richard Oncology Centre. Last year, the atmosphere was festive and the event raised more than $10,000. Once again this year, funds raised will be used to purchase prosthesis and mastectomy bras for breast cancer patients.

Jacques B. LeBlanc, President and CEO of the CHU Dumont Foundation, is thrilled that the Electrifying Night Run is back for another year.

“We are very fortunate to have the Breast Health Centre’s expertise at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre. By participating in this race, the community can show their support to staff and patients of the Centre. The Electrifying Night Run is the perfect family activity, or one that can be done with a group of friends. We hope the public will come out and show their support again this year!”

On behalf of the medical team and especially on behalf of our patients, I sincerely thank each and every one of you who contributed to the success of this Gala.”

For the Chairman of the CHU Dumont Foundation, Mr. René Collette, the continued support of activities such as this one clearly shows the importance that the population attaches to the work done by the Foundation and is a sign of trust.

“The Foundation’s mission is to support the development and the improvement of health care services offered at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre. To do this, we need committed partners and a community that is fully engaged. Through the years, people have been steadfast in their support, as have our valued partners. This has allowed the completion of several major undertakings that make a direct and concrete difference in the lives of thousands of people in our community. Tonight has been another great example of what we can accomplish when we work together.”

More than 500 guests took part in this enchanting evening rich in gastronomy and music held at the Delta Beauséjour. The reception in the mezzanine was followed by a sumptuous gourmet dinner prepared by Stefan Müller, Executive Chef at the Delta Beauséjour. A silent auction comprised of various luxurious prizes, including paintings by the duo Gin & Julz took place during the evening. To wrap things up, guests were invited to the after-party featuring Nine Mile River.

The event was presented by National Bank, proud sponsor of the Valentine’s Day Gala since 1995.

The Valentine’s Day Gala is one of the CHU Dumont Foundation’s main fundraisers. Each year, the evening’s proceeds are invested in the improvement of health care services offered at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre.
