Some 400 runners and walkers come together to support breast cancer patients.

MONCTON, Friday, June 24th, 2016 – Moncton’s very first “Electrifying Night Run” was a huge success, with 400 people participating in the fundraising activity, on Friday, June 24th at 9pm.

The event took place in a festive atmosphere, and$10,000 was raised to help support breast cancer patients. Participants had the option to walk, run, or combine both on a five-kilometre course. The start and finish lines were located in front of the Dr. Léon-Richard Oncology Centre, on Providence Street in Moncton.

“We are very happy with the event’s success,” says Dr. Jocelyne Hébert, Surgeon at the Breast Health Centre. “Our goal was to raise funds to help provide prostheses and bras for breast cancer patients. But it was also an opportunity for the general public to show its support to breast cancer patients, and to the work that we do at the Breast Health Centre. I can assure you that the funds will make a tremendous difference in the lives of patients. We’re already excited about next year’s event,” says Dr. Hébert.
The Breast Health Centre recently celebrated its first anniversary. It offers a range of services including breast cancer prevention, screening and early detection for women referred to the clinic.

Jacques B. LeBlanc, President and CEO of the CHU Dumont Foundation, is also very proud of this successful outcome.

“The Breast Health Centre has been offering exceptional care to breast cancer patients for over a year now. The Centre has a highly qualified team of professionals. But to continue offering this quality of care to patients in the coming years, the Breast Health Centre will need to rely on community support. The success of the first “Electrifying Night Run” is a great example of how positive things can happen when people come together in support of a great cause! In the end, patients are definitely the big winners here.”
