Moncton, June 28, 2018 – The members of the Scotiabank – BMW Moncton Golf Classic organizing committee proudly presented the CHU Dumont Foundation with a cheque of $ 70,000. The annual tournament took place yesterday at the Fox Creek Golf Club in Dieppe.

Funds raised by this edition of the tournament will now allow the purchase of a venous Echo-Doppler ultrasound device. According to Dr. Julien LeBlanc, Chief of the Department of Anesthesiology at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre, this new equipment will greatly benefit patients.

“This equipment will help anesthesiologists locate nerves and blood vessels during sedation analgesia, as well as insert catheters. It will also be used by surgeons to place cardiac simulators and to perform vascular evaluations. This will allow for more precise and safe surgical procedures for the patient.”

The 17th edition of the Golf Classic was proudly sponsored by Scotiabank and BMW Moncton. Co-Chairs, Chris Bacich, General Manager of BMW Moncton, and Emile Albert, Branch Manager at Scotiabank, are very pleased with the outcome.

“Once again, it has been just an incredible day,” says Mr. Bacich. “People had a lot of fun all the while supporting a great cause. The new piece of equipment that will be purchased will help improve the quality of health care services available to people in our community and BMW Moncton is extremely proud to support the CHU Dumont Foundation in its endeavors.”

Emile Albert agrees with Mr. Bacich. “At Scotiabank, we have a long history of supporting the growth and prosperity of the communities where we operate. Health and well-being is one of the key areas we focus on. In supporting the Golf Classic, Scotiabank hopes to have a positive impact on the community. I think we can say ‘mission accomplished’.”

For Lise Caissie, incoming Chair of the Board of Directors of the CHU Dumont Foundation, the end-result of this 17th Golf Classic clearly shows just how much importance the community places on improving health care services offered at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre.

“Our goal at the Foundation is the same every year: to improve the experience that patients and their families have at our hospital. That is exactly what the arrival of this new piece of equipment will do. If we managed to accomplish something great today, it is thanks to the generosity of individuals and businesses in our community. On behalf of patients at our hospital, thank you.”

Since 1983, the CHU Dumont Foundation has been playing a leading role at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre. Its support aimed at improving health care services is essential to the hospital’s viability, allowing it to acquire state-of-the-art equipment and to implement and enhance programs that foster community wellness.
